Scriptures
Torah Parshat Noach, 4th Portion (Bereshit (Genesis) 8:15-9:7)

Genesis 8:15-9:7
English Standard Version
15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Go out from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons' wives with you. 17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh—birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth—that they may swarm on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” 18 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him. 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out by families from the ark.
God's Covenant with Noah
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse[a] the ground because of man, for the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
Genesis 9
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.
6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image.
7 And you,[b] be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”

WWCF Readings
Amos 2-4

Amos 2
Judgment on Israel
6 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals—
7 those who trample the head of the poor into the dust of the earth
and turn aside the way of the afflicted; a man and his father go in to the same girl,
so that my holy name is profaned;
8 they lay themselves down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge,
and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.
9 “Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars
and who was as strong as the oaks; I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.
10 Also it was I who brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness,
to possess the land of the Amorite.
11 And I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazirites.
Is it not indeed so, O people of Israel?” declares the Lord.
12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine, and commanded the prophets, saying, ‘You shall not prophesy.’

13 “Behold, I will press you down in your place, as a cart full of sheaves presses down.
14 Flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not retain his strength, nor shall the mighty save his life;
15 he who handles the bow shall not stand, and he who is swift of foot shall not save himself,
nor shall he who rides the horse save his life;
16 and he who is stout of heart among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day,”
declares the Lord.

Amos 3
Israel's Guilt and Punishment
1 Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:
2 “You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you
for all your iniquities.
3 “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?
4 Does a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey?
Does a young lion cry out from his den, if he has taken nothing?
5 Does a bird fall in a snare on the earth, when there is no trap for it?
Does a snare spring up from the ground, when it has taken nothing?
6 Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid?
Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it?
7 “For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
8 The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who can but prophesy?”

Bible in A Year
Jeremiah 48-49: 1 Timothy 2; Psalm 119:81-88

2 Timothy 1
English Standard Version
Greeting
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my beloved child:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Guard the Deposit Entrusted to You
3 I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. 4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us to[a] a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,[b] 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.[c] 13 Follow the pattern of the sound[d] words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 14 By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.
15 You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16 May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains, 17 but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me earnestly and found me— 18 may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!—and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.

Psalm 119:81-88
English Standard Version
Kaph
81 My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.
82 My eyes long for your promise; I ask, “When will you comfort me?”
83 For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, yet I have not forgotten your statutes.
84 How long must your servant endure?[a] When will you judge those who persecute me?

85 The insolent have dug pitfalls for me; they do not live according to your law.
86 All your commandments are sure; they persecute me with falsehood; help me!
87 They have almost made an end of me on earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts.
88 In your steadfast love give me life, that I may keep the testimonies of your mouth.

Observation
In Amos Israel have completely forgotten and disregarded GOD and so GOD has proclaimed judgements against them. Who did not want their children set apart by GOD to be HIS Servant Prophets so that they would not drink wine but caused them to drink wine, to be normal just like the rest. They have forgotten GOD because they are blessed, they do not understand that GOD was the ONE who blessed them, who brought them to where they are now, but because they did not regard GOD, GOD has proclaimed judgements, scary judgements.

Application
I fear the LORD, I talk to HIM every morning thanking HIM for everything HE has blessed me with, because I have this HOLY Fear of HIM this fear of everything going wrong in a normalized world. I do not fear what could happen in the tribulation, I want GOD to return as soon as possible because there was nothing in this world that I would want to stay for another day if GOD is coming soon, Hallelujah! How I longed for his appearing! How I long to be energized by HIM. It is only HIS word that moves me, and I allow myself to be moved for HIM. My Soul longs for HIS Salvation because my hope is in HIS WORD, I am waiting for HIS Promise of love, while here on earth, HE promised me to be loved by a husband just as JESUS loves me. There are so many things to be fulfilled before HIS Coming and I am waiting and longing for GOD to show up in glory by fulfilling HIS Promises!!!
In 2 Timothy Paul reminds us to not just be faithful to GOD, but to fan the flame of love for GOD in my heart. For it is by HIS SPIRIT that I live, without HIS SPirit at work within me, I am a dead body.
